On Friday June 5th, 2026 more than thirty five student athletes competed at the 14th MA Middle School State Championship Track and Field Meet. On the girls team, Vivian Sundell of the Andrews finished 4th overall in the discus with a best throw of 70 ft. Finishing 9th overall, just one place away from medaling, was the McGlynn 4×400 team of Evelyn Willwerth, Ava Dutkiewicz, Avni Hutchinson, and Phaedra Flynn. 

Scoring for the boys team was Nikolas Tarasov who finished 6th in the 400 with a personal best time of 58.18. His McGlynn counterpart James Elliott also placed 8th in the 400 with a personal best time of 59.7. Both these boys were part of the 6th place 4×400 team that finished in 4:24 seconds, along with Adam Nazih and Kahlan Doshi-Rice. Other notable performances came from Ben Rudolph who finished 10th in the 100 meter hurdles (18.57); Owen Labissoniere who finished 9th in the 200 (26.02); and javelin thrower Joshua Pereira, who also finished 9th. 

For many of these student athletes it was their first experience at a championship meet: a well deserved ending to a long and rewarding season. Thank you to assistant coaches Sara Vivian and Hannah Zuklie who did a spectacular job, especially for being new to the sport of track and field. Additional thanks goes to coach Murphy, Whalen, Asmar and Enos, who volunteered their time to support the team. Thank you to Tom Schofield who took professional photos at many of the meets. And of course to the student athletes for always striving towards the best version of themselves.
